Renovated in 2005, the comfortable hotel consists of a total of 86 rooms spread over 4 floors. The fully air-conditioned city hotel welcomes guests in the lobby with a 24-hour reception desk, a hotel safe, a cloakroom and several lifts. Dining and drinking options include a bar and Cuvee gourmet restaurant, which serves delicious New Orleans dishes. Room and laundry services are available and business travellers may use the well-equipped conference rooms. Guests arriving by car are able to make use of the hotel car park (for an additional fee).

General Information:The original St. James opened its doors in 1859, noted New Orleans architect James Feret began work on Baroque-influenced building behind the hotel which would become the Board of Trade. The hotel, in its heyday, was described in one newspaper article as "one of the grandest hotels in the Confederate States". During the Civil War, troops converted the stately hotel into a military hospital. Legend has it that this was the famous "St. James Infirmary" immortalized in New Orleans' blues history. Another story has it that one of the current first floor guest rooms was used as a meeting place for early plotters of the Texas Revolution.
